Into the Dark by Serene Conneeley

This book review is part of the Christmas Advent Calendar 2014

18 sleeps till Christmas

Into the Dark by Serene Conneeley is the second book in the Into the Mists Trilogy. Into the Dark is beautifully presented with yet again another piece of amazing cover artwork by the talented Seline Fenech.

I loved Into the Dark as much as I loved Into the Mists. It captivated in a completely new way with Carlie having now found a love for her grandmother and her new life. In this second book we see a history starting to repeat itself as Carlie finds a new love that has links to her mothers past. We continue our journey with the old characters and are introduced to some new. Serene Conneeley has done a wonderful job of blending the two books together. For those who have not read Into the Mists, or read it some time ago, Into the Dark provides enough description of book one to keep you in the loop.

Into the Dark  contains the same magical journey as Into the Mists but I did not feel the magical aspect was as strong in this book. For me it seemed to get lost a little within the journey of new love and Carlie’s mother’s past. This does not make Into the Dark any less of a book than Into the Mists but instead gives it a personality of it’s own. Both books stand alone nicely whilst complementing each other as a trilogy.

Into the Dark definitely comes highly recommended by myself. Another great piece of fiction by Serene Conneeley that has left me eagerly awaiting book three.
